Beliefs
Below are various beliefs that communicate the essence of our faith. Don't worry if you believe differently. There is plenty of room for honest questions.
We believe that God is the creator of all that is. The raw materials were provided by God out of chaos, and ordered into a world full of potential. We are co-creators with God in this wonderful project called the universe, or Creation.
We believe that Jesus, called Christ or Messiah, was sent by God. Jesus represents God to humanity, in life, teachings, and love. Jesus also represents humanity to God in love for God, love for others, and love for creation.
We believe that God's Holy Spirit leads us to love and teaches us more about God. In the scripture, the Holy Spirit is also referred to as God's Breath or a Holy Wind. We believe that each breath we take is a gift of God. Each time the wind blows, it is like God's Spirit moving among us. God's Spirit guides not only individuals, but also churches who seek to follow God in the way of Jesus.
We believe in only one true church. This doesn't mean our church. This means that all of the churches in the world that follow Jesus are a part of one, universal church. Only God can say for sure who is "in" and who is "out," and so we don't try to make those calls. Whatever your denomination, if your faith is true, we are in this together.
We believe that God is full of forgiveness for us. Humanity has a poor track record of always doing the right thing, and that can lead to us being separated from God, whether in our hearts, or in our actions. God is determined to not let our misdeeds keep us from divine love, and so God remains faithful in offering Forgiveness to us, and has shown this through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus.
We believe that one day, God will have the final word in restoring Creation to its proper order. When this happens, God will also bring the dead to life and we will continue to co-create with God in a restored world.
We believe that God has the final word in life, love, and even time. As God has been faithful from the beginning, God will be faithful for eternity.
